The Greek Girl Guide - How to handle these hot-blooded women

Summer is coming to an end and it would be a shame if I didn't write about my experience of one of the most popular European destination in the Summer - Greece.

Known as the country which gave birth to many important philosophical and political concepts during ancient time, today, Greece is known for various tourist destinations, delicious food and hospitality. Add beautiful Greek girls with Mediterranean looks to this mix and you sure have one of the best tourist destinations in the Summer.

Is it true that Greek women are beautiful like goddesses?

If you want to find out more about Greek girls, their looks and personality, you’re at the right place.

5 Things you should now about Greek girls

They are passionate about everyone and everything they do

Passion is something that runs through Greek veins, whether it's their friends, family, job etc. If you ask any Greek woman what drives her in her life, passion is the answer you're going to get.

Being so passionate about everything in their life means that Greek girls can be pretty loud, emotional, even over-dramatic. However, this is all done with good intent.

This extreme passion can be too much for foreigners at first but isn’t it better to have a girl who is passionate in her life than someone who isn’t passionate at all?

Music and dancing is in their veins

You know how there are some people who don’t know how to dance? Well, Greeks don’t believe in such thing. All Greeks have rhythm and like music so be prepared to dance whenever music starts playing.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a nightclub or some gathering with friends or family. If the music starts playing, Greek girls (and Greeks, in general) will be the first to get up and dance.

If you were asking yourself how so many Greek girls have fit and curvy bodies, this is your answer.

Greek girls are always ready to dance and love men who are into dancing. They believe that dancing is another way to show affection and that these men are kind hearted and expressive about everything they do in their life. You’re going to move your hips pretty often if you date a Greek girl.

Tradition and gender-roles are still present in Greece

If you’re more traditional guy, you will be in for a treat in Greece.

In the past, there was a tradition that a Greek woman should be the one who takes care of her husband and their kids. They usually didn’t have a job and were rarely seen in public. All of this was the result of rural economy, patriarchal culture and conservative Greek Orthodox Church.

In a similar manner, Greek women expected to be taken care by their man.

Parents also had a big role in deciding which men a Greek girls is going to marry. Usually, it was family that arranged the wedding and girl didn’t have any opinion about it.

This conservative tradition led to Greek women getting less respect than deserved even though there are so many things that they can do even better than men.

The patriarchal culture is still present in many parts of Greece but thankfully, things are changing and Greek women are starting to fight for gender equality.

Yes, there are  ‘’parents’’ and ‘’friends’’ tests for a boyfriend

Greek girls have huge families and they have big respect for them. Huge is actually an understatement. You’re probably not going to remember names of every single family member until later in a relationship.

Family is sacred for Greek girls and good relationship with their parents is important to them. If things get serious with your Greek girl, she will introduce you to her parents, family and friends. If you pass the family test, you will be treated as a part of the family.

If you’re really into your Greek girl, the best way to impress her is to get the family on your side. However, this isn’t an easy job, especially getting her mother on your side. Greek mothers always believe that there is no man who is good enough for her daughter.

It is also usual for a Greek girl to start living without her parents much later in her life. Don’t be surprised if she tells you that she’s still living with her parents. Even if she has her own place, their parents are going to visit her very often.

I know this might sound weird to Western people who can’t wait to become independent and start living all by themselves but family is sacred for Greek girls and they don’t have a problem with this.

They expect you to return Greece at least once per year once you start dating

If you’re dating a Greek girl, even if you met her abroad, and are living abroad, you’re going to visit Greece at least once per year, usually during summer.  However, you shouldn’t complain about this. Greece is filled with various breathtaking destinations so you won’t be able to visit them all at once.

Greeks love their country so much that they always want to spend their holidays in Greece, especially if they’re living abroad. Just google beautiful Greek islands like Mykonos, Skiathos or Rhodes and I’m sure you’re going to understand what I’m saying.

What do Greek Women look like?

Most Greek girls have a Mediterranean tan with dark eyes and dark brown hair which is typically curly and thick. More often than not they are curvy but not overweight or fat so if you like curves you will be quite impressed with the appearance of Greek girls.

Greek girls like to take care of themselves and be stylish and feminine. They love to dress in striking skirts and dresses and show their feminine side. Greek girls are proud of their looks and they’ll show this in a best possible way.

What are their personalities like?

he first thing that I’ve learned about Greek girls is that they don’t sweat about small things like being late. I’ve had a situation where I was late on my date because I couldn’t find the place where we arranged to meet up. She didn’t stress about it at all.

Greek girls are really laid back and don’t care about small things as long as you respect them and keep your promise.

When it comes to affection and passion, I like to say that there are two types of girls - Greek girls and girls from other countries. Greek girls are never afraid to show and say what they think and feel. Their display of affection is usually accompanied with big gestures, facial expressions and dramatic, big words.

You know how sometimes you don’t know if girl is into you? Well, you won’t have this problem with a Greek girl. Just follow her facial expressions and gestures and you will know how she feels about you.

You’re probably asking yourself -  Are Greek girls also passionate in bed? Yes, they are. Even if it’s just a fling and a one night stand, you’re going to have some of the best experience in the bed, especially if you’re adventurous and like to spice it up a little bit.

This passion is also present in arguments so it’s better to think twice before you start an argument with a Greek girl. She always think that she is right and there is almost no way to beat her in an argument.

Although Greek traditions are still present, today’s Greek girls are also interested into foreigners. They like meeting new people from other countries and hearing about their history, culture and lifestyle.

Greeks have huge respect for their country and they are proud of it. That is why you should know at least something about it since it can be a great conversation starter.

You don’t even have to think about a way to start conversation with a Greek girl. Greek girls are great at making a conversation. You can talk with your date for hours about almost everything. Many famous philosophers come from ancient Greece so they’ve probably inherited this from them.

Parents and family are important part of every Greek girl. I’ve already told you that once you pass the ‘’friends and family’’ test, they are going to treat you like you’re part of the family. Moreover, they will also respect your friends and family.

However, sometimes their parents are too protective and supportive of them, which is why you will have a feeling that they are maybe a little bit spoiled. Greek girls usually get everything they want and whenever they want while growing up and they also expect this in a relationship.

Sometimes, meeting a Greek girl is not that easy. One of the reasons for this is that Greek girls like to go out in groups and spend their night out grouped. Moreover, their male friends can be protective of them, especially against strangers, which can make things harder.

However, don’t discouraged; you’re not going to be all alone in Greece - just be social. Don’t be afraid to mingle and make an eye contact, even if she’s with her friends. If you approach her, don’t forget to introduce yourself to her friends. This will mean a lot both to her and her friends and you’ll be accepted more easily.

Do Greek girls use dating sites and apps?

Internet and online dating apps have changed dating habits all over the world and Greece is no exception. There are various online dating sites and apps that are used by Greek girls.

One of those sites is International Cupidit's a great website for foreign men to meet Greek women. It's marketed as an international dating website so you can expect the girls on there to speak English.

Another great site is Tinder which has a Passport add-on that allows you to communicate with your ‘’Greek goddess’’ even before you arrive in Greece. You need to pay for this option but I think it’s worth it, especially if you don’t want to lose your free time.

Where to meet Greek girls?

Greeks live for huge celebrations and parties, no matter what’s the occasion. Greek girls like to go out, drink and dance. This is part of their culture and lifestyle. It’s also not uncommon for them to take the mic and sing so get ready for some crazy fun karaoke nights.

If you’re visiting Athens, the Greek capital, you will find various great clubs and bars that cater to different tastes. These are some of my favourite clubs I’ve visited in Athens:

Island

island club and restaurant

Island is one of the most popular places on the Athens Riviera. The beautiful interior filled with candles along with sea-view terrace provide a relaxing environment by the sea. The club also includes restaurants which serves both Greek and international cuisine while the bar serves some of the best cocktails that I’ve tried in Athens.

Island plays different genres of music - everything from oriental to more mainstream.

Cinderella

Cinderealla

If you’re more into 70s and 80s vibe, Cinderella is a good choice for you. Located in Kolonaki, Cinderella is a club with relaxed vibe and psychedelic decor. This is a club where people dance, flirt and socialize up until early morning.

Recently, it became really popular place to go out in Athens so make sure you reserve your table or arrive early since it is a relatively small club.

Bolivar Beach Club

Bolivia Beach Bar Restaurant

Bolivar Beach Club is a place where you can spend your whole day. You can swim, sunbathe and enjoy during the day and then dance the night away, all in one place. During Summer months, it hosts various parties with guest DJs from all around the world.

Located along the coast on Poseidonos Avenue, Bolivar Beach Club is one of the greatest Summer hotspots in Athens which combines fun, music, sun and sand all in one place.

Conclusion

All ethnicities are unique and beautiful in their own way. However, there was something special about Greek women that caught my eye more than the ladies from other nations.

If you're serious about meeting Greek girls who are interested in foreign men, try International Cupid.

Maybe it’s their display of affection that you can’t see in German girls or their passion about everything they do. Maybe it’s the way their proud of their country and like to show this to foreigners.

Whatever it is, it really made my trip to Greece even more beautiful.
